During the late 1800s Itsujirō edited and illustrated woodblock-printed books. One of these books, entitled Shoshoku Hikkei Kachō Gafu (Picture Album of Flowers and Birds, a Manual for Artisans) and published in 1890, included twenty-five pictures of flowers and birds. These pictures are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. The book’s intended audience was craftsmen looking for ideas to decorate their products so it wasn’t necessary to print the pictures in full color.
